FAME TRACK PROGRAM
We know that creativity can strike at any time, so the cornerstone of our program is flexibility.
Members can drop in any time we’re open to explore, practice, create, or just decompress after a long day.
Our staff and volunteers are prepared to use our Fame Track model to help turn passing interests into larger projects, and to support all of our young artists develop their voices and make music that’s meaningful to them.
What is the Fame Track model?
The Fame Track program has three different components: Fun, Gold, and Platinum. They’re not rungs on a ladder to climb, but different ways to use our facilities. The Fun track is about exploring, the Gold Track is about skill-building, and the Platinum Track is about producing something of your own.
Program participants will ideally move between and among the tracks often during their years at the MRC. You might join to record an EP (a Platinum project), then spend some time learning a new instrument or about a new genre (Gold track), perhaps take some time to jam with new friends (Fun track), then wake up one day ready to record more original music (another Platinum project).
There’s no wrong way to participate, and plenty of kids spend most of their time just hanging out and having fun
FUN TRACK
By becoming a member of Music Resource Center, you are automatically enrolled in the first level of Artist Tracks known, affectionately, as the Fun Track. Your time in the Fun Track can be used to play around with new ideas or styles of music, experiment with instruments, or just relax and decompress after finishing a project while you wait for inspiration to strike again.
GOLD TRACK
Members working on Gold Track projects want to hone their skills. If you want to learn how to do something in particular, then Gold Track is right for you. You’ll work with a mentor or staff member to set goals and a timeline for achieving them, whether it’s learning six chords on guitar by next month, or learning how to use the studio to record music.
PLATINUM TRACK
If you think you have what it takes to be a pro, then it might be time for a Platinum Track project. Platinum artists are typically working on advanced projects like recording an original album, performing their original music in a live setting, or using their engineering skills to record someone else’s work.
