The Music Resource Center is a non-profit after school program for music, dance, and audio engineering in the Charlottesville area. We serve around 180 6th-12th grade students per year, and provide a safe and diverse space for adolescents to better themselves through the universal language of music.

For the last 23 years, we have worked hard to make music education affordable and accessible! Our members pay an annual fee to join, and have access to all of our offerings, including:

  • Lessons in instruments, voice, dance and audio engineering
  • Access to our professional-grade recording studio and an expert audio engineer
  • Rehearsal spaces fully outfitted for band practices
  • Digital production studios
  • A local FM and online radio station to broadcast over

The annual fee is on a sliding scale based on family income, where the highest possible fee is $150, and members who qualify for free or reduced lunch at school pay just $10 for an entire year of membership. It costs us approximately $550 per student to provide these spaces and services.

Last year our members logged…

400

hours in lessons and classes

1,570

hours dancing

1,540

hours practicing music

475

hours in our recording studio

1,205

hours in spring break and summer camps
