Pia Donovan — Executive Director
A native New Yorker, Pia has spent over 20 years in the financial services and non-profit sectors. She first moved to Virginia in 2003 to pursue graduate studies at the University of Virginia where she met her husband. She is also an artist and violin student. In her role as Executive Director, she hopes to strengthen the larger Charlottesville community through the contributions of MRC and its members. Pia sees youth music education as a critical building block in a strong foundation for our children.
Damani Harrison – Artistic Director
Damani studied music at William and Mary before moving to Charlottesville to work at MusicToday. In addition to working at the MRC, he spends his time writing for local publications as well as recording, promoting, and touring with Beetnix. Damani believes that teaching students where they want to learn is elemental to the success of MRC’s members. For that reason, he aims to engage students in unique ways using the music they want to learn not as a goal to achieve, but as a tool to teach all aspects from the basic to the advanced. This approach is a key differentiator in the MRC program and a strong retention factor for our students.
Ike Anderson – Membership Coordinator and Instructor
Ike began his dancing career over fifteen years ago as a former MRC member and now serves as our dance and digital music production instructor as well as our Membership Coordinator. He is well known in the community for his choreography for local theater and high school productions as well as for his acting. Ike enjoys watching MRC’s students grow and develop as they spend time in the Center. He brings a unique perspective to the MRC approach having experienced the program on both sides as a student and instructor.
