Ari Berne

Ari BerneUsing the stage name Ghetti, Ari was featured on every one of our compilation CD’s during his time at MRC.  From very humble beginings as a 7th grader, he grew into a very accomplished producer and rapper.  He’s currently performing around Charlottesville with his group T3 and continuing his education at Piedmont College.

Louis Hampton

Louis HamptonLouis was a member of MRC when we were still located above the old Traxx music venue.  It must have made an impression on him, because now he’s making an impression on all of the east coast hip-hop scene as half of the group Beetnix.  Be sure to check out any of the six self released Beetnix albums to see what the fuss is all about.

Lester Jackson

lesterLester was another member at MRC when we were located at our original building.  Since graduating he has continued writing and performing with his group Acoustic Groove Trio.  Lester also won the 2006 First Amendment Writes songwriting competition with his entry “Water.”

Will Wyatt

willwyattWill was one of the best guitarists to grace MRC with his music.  While he may be able to play 6,000 notes per second in a power rock guitar solo, he was equally adept at jazz and fusion.  He is currently attending NYU with a major in Music.

Isaih Anderson

ikeWhat can’t Isaih do?  He started with dancing, moved on to beat production and then proceeded to sharpen his MC skills.  Isaih participated in the first season of “So You Think You Can Dance” making it all the way out to Los Angeles.  He is currently working with his dance group “X-Tassy” and teaching dance here at the MRC.

Johnny Stubblefield

jstubbWhile Jonny was a member at MRC his band won the first ever MRC Battle of the Bands, despite loosing the electricity for most of their set due to some unforseen PA problems.  That band went on to become Parachute, whose major label debut album “Loosing Sleep” has just been released on Island/Def Jam records.

Josh Griffin

joshgriffinJosh made his biggest impact as a member in the production department, producing beats for many of our rappers. He still found time to hone his own rapping skills and was featured on three MRC compilation CD’s and one Lighthouse music video.  He is currently a studio assistant at MRC and can be found performing around central virginia with his group T3.

John Jamison

jjamison John was one of the most solid drummers MRC has ever seen, and when he was teamed up with Will Wyatt they seemed unstoppable.  He’s currently attending the College of Charlston majoring in Studio Arts and Arts management, and playing in a group called The Talk Charlies.

Matthew Carter

matthewcarterMatthew (aka R.C.) could have the fastest hand in the world when you put a pair of sticks in them.  He set the bar high for all the drummers to follow him, and now helps them over it as a Studio Assistant and drum instructor at MRC.

Amber Smith

amberAmber attended the Music Resource Center as a dancer. She received her Bachelor’s of Fine Art in Contemporary Modern Dance from Radford University, where she danced with artists such as Sheron Price and Danah Bella. In 2008-2009 she was apprentice with d a n a h b e l l a DanceWorks performing throughout the New River Valley.

Katie Stewart

dsc003531Stewie was a longtime MRC member, from her early days as a rhythm guitarist in the girl power band Blatant Atrophy to her final year as an accomplished songwriter which found her featured on 2009′s Swag City. In addition to performing, Stewie was also one of our best interns and plans on pursuing a career in audio engineering.

Ross Bollinger

rossRoss wore many hats in his time at the MRC. His first big project was guitarist and singer for the group Something About Art, but he had other tricks up his sleeve – it involved the ukulele, kazoo and any other device that would make sound and formed Body For Karate. He is currently attending The School of Visual Arts in NYC, studying animation.

Alison Slawson

dsc00459Alison was the frontperson for the group Blatant Atrophy and later went on to form Alis and Pocket. She is currently attending Christopher Newport University as an English Major with a concentration in Film Studies, hoping to become a screenwriter for NBC.

Kendra Felton

dsc00386Kendra was involved in many activities during her time at MRC. She sang in the group Black Dynasty, studied choreography and danced.  Kendra is currently attending Piedmont Virginia Community College furthering her education in Music and also is a member of the Xtasse dance crew.

Kelsey Beams

Once she started attending MRC in 9th grade, Kelsey quickly started writing, recording and performing with bands such as Radio Via Amplifier and 6 Story Walkup.  After a short hiatus from music, Kelsey is now volunteering at MRC , working on her drumming and working on her dream of becoming a touring tech for independent rock bands.

Seth Swingle

In his time at the MRC, Seth studies audio engineering as well as using our studios to record his Banjo and n’goni enough to be featured on our Permit Parking Only CD. After graduating he studied at the University of Chicago and recently received a Fulbright scholarship to study and play music in Mali, West Africa.
