2010 First Amendment Writes
ByThe final competition for the 2010 First Amendment Writes Poetry and Songwriting competition was held at the Jefferson Theater this past Monday, November 8, 2010. It was a great night for creative work in the name of freedom of expression, with 8 poetry finalists performing and 10 songwriters performing. While everyone was great, there could be only one judges favorite in each category. Well, almost…this year we added the Audience Favorite for each category. Each audience member received a ticket to vote for their favorite poet and songwriter.
The winners were:
Judges Vote Poetry: Jennifer Raha with “Junior Year”
Audience Vote Poetry: Chelsea Henderson with “Reply”
Judges Vote Songwriting: Galen Curry with “Oh, Mama”
Audience Vote Songwriting: Joseph Moses with “Carry You”
